Karen Thompson2025-09-01 We had the wonderful Maricela for a fascinating afternoon/ evening at Casa AzuL, Trotsky house, Mercado and the Church of San Juan Bautista. She clearly has a passion for her neighborhood and its deep history. We enjoyed learning from such a great teacher who has such an open and friendly manner. Thanks for the tour and ice cream! Robert Beardsley2025-08-28 Maricela is a wealth of knowledge and such a pleasant guide to chat with. I cannot give her a higher recommendation. Civic Interest2025-08-26 Maricela Muñoz isn’t just a guide—she’s a storyteller with deep roots in the very neighborhood we explored. Born and raised there, she carries a world of knowledge that you can’t find in guidebooks. More than facts, she brought history and culture to life with the ease of a natural teacher. What made the tour unforgettable was how she went out of her way to make the experience feel personal and special. A truly remarkable guide! Lael Duncan2025-08-16 What a GREAT DAY! With Maricela as our guide we visited Casa Gilardi, did a walking tour of the historic center of Mexico City--with an overview of history, art and architecture, and had an introduction to the Aztec world at the globally famous Museum of Anthropology. A tour with Marcela is a 'must do' agenda item on your next trip to Mexico City. We spent the whole day with Maricela and would happily sign up to do it again. She is an accomplished historian and educator. The setting comes alive as she relates critical and enlightening details, bringing richness and context to your tour. Don't miss having a day with Maricela! Michael Burns2025-08-16 Maricela Muñoz is an empathetic, kind, trained Anthropologist who provided us with an incredible journey and exploration of the National Museum of Anthropology in Mexico City. Maricela was able to impart her knowledge of the people and art of Mesoamerican civilizations to us and we quickly gained an insight on how the Olmec, Zapotec, Mayan, Aztec and other cultures interrelate. She touched upon the finest examples of each room and we were able to quickly and efficiently immerse ourselves in the Pre Hispanic world. She also gave us some great tips on other places to explore on the remainder of our visit to Mexico City. We highly recommend Maricela and would not hesitate to book another one of her tours on our return visit to Mexico City! david gallo2025-08-09 Maricela’s tour of the Museum of Anthropology was great! We learned so much. Maricela is so knowledgeable and she shares that knowledge in a very accessible way. She really brought the museum alive for us. Sharon Yu2025-08-03 We booked Maricela as our tour guide at the Anthropology Museum on a Sunday at 11:00 a.m. for our family of five (three kids under the age of 13). She was communicative ahead of time, so we had no trouble coordinating with her and getting started smoothly. During the tour, she was a wealth of knowledge, speaking clearly and loudly so the whole family could hear, even in a busy/crowded space. She responded insightfully to any questions we had, adapted the tour schedule according to our needs for breaks, and offered recommendations for itineraries outside the museum. We highly recommend her if you're looking for an engaging learning experience on Mexican history at the Anthropology Museum! Michael Cornelo2025-07-14 Highest possible recommendation. Maricela is wonderfully suited for those like me who are interested in history and anthropology, however, also great for under the radar locations with delightful eats and drinks. Mexico City is immense so it is more important here than in many other locations to have the best and most capable, she really is all that. Her attention to detail and planning made all of our time with her extremely enjoyable. Book her early if you can, someone this good is likely to be in high demand. Cindy Blikre2025-07-14 Maricela was the best tour guide I’ve had throughout my many years of travel. She brought Mexico City to life for us. We spent one day with her in the Historic Center, one day in Coyoacán, and half day in the Anthropology Museum. Her knowledge of Mexican history, culture and anthropology are unmatched. She’s also incredibly kind and keeps things light and fun with a willingness to follow your lead and pace. We 100 percent recommend Maricela and will plan to tour with her again upon our return to this amazing city. Leslie Kramer2025-07-03 In my 40 years as a travel professional, I have not had a tour guide as outstanding as Maricela. We were two couples and had the absolute pleasurable experience of exploring Mexico City for three days. Not only does Maricela have incredible knowledge, but is also passionate about sharing the rich history and culture of this vibrant city. Our first day was an adventure to Teotihuacán where Maricela shared her insights about its history and significance, giving us plenty of time to explore. After we had a traditional lunch at a hidden gem of a restaurant we were then surprised by a private visit to Tetitla which was an amazing archaeological site with beautiful murals. Day two we started our journey in the heart of the city exploring iconic landmarks. What made the day exceptionally special was Maricela’s ability to share historical anecdotes and engaging stories. We finished the day at Museum of Popular Art and a visit to a special gallery. Our final day was a total surprise. Maricela, in her warm and accommodating manner tailored the day to make us feel truly special. We went to an out-of-the-way farmers market and then for a beautiful and private ride on a canal that isn’t used by many tourists. We finished the day visiting Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera’s homes and studio. If you’re looking for an unforgettable tour experience with a guide who is friendly, knowledgeable and engaging then Maricela is definitely the person to guide you through Mexico.Google rating score: 5.0 of 5, based on 213 reviews
