Wow! I had no idea when we engaged Maricela, what an excellent tour guide she would be! We had two, private tours with her. First, we met at the National Museum of Anthropology. Maricela led us through several exhibits giving us far more information than would have been possible to learn on our own. I highly recommend this tour! The next day, Maricela met us outside the Frida Khalo Blue House and took us, with a driver, to the Xochimilco Canals and a huge market where we tasted some local foods. We also toured the San Bernardino de Siena Church, a church and former monastery built in the 1530’s - so interesting and historical. Maricela is more than an anthropology scholar and (clearly) experienced guide. She is a passionate conduit for the the potency of anthropological insights into humanity. Her guided tour of the Museo Nacional de Antropología was tailored to my interest in a way I have never experienced with other museum guides.

I’ve had many private walking tours in many cities around the world and this by far was one of the best ones I’ve been on thanks to the wonderful guidance of Maricella. Not only is her knowledge deep and Wonderfully anecdotal, she has the perfect blend of imparting information and keeping things moving and interesting. Four hours with her absolutely flew by. On top of that she is an absolutely delightful woman that we were very happy to spend half a day with. Communication and setting up the tour was excellent as was meeting us on the day. Wow. Maricela is WOW. We have had a lot of great guides during our travels, but Maricela was by far the best. She was so knowledgeable and engaging. Best of all, with very little input from us, she put together an incredible itinerary which allowed us to see an authentic Mexico City. We spent 2 and a half days with Maricela touring the National Museum of Anthropology, San Angel, Xochimilco, the art at the UNAM, historic centre, and Roma Norte. Everything was perfect and smooth. Maricela brought Mexico City to life for us. Maricela is wonderful. She gave our family of four a tour of Chapultepec Castle and the Museum of Anthropology. She is an encyclopedia of knowledge, and her enthusiasm is infectious. She does an especially good job of sharing the history so that you have the context to appreciate what you are seeing.
